The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band will present its annual Pops Concert, Summer Show Stoppers, on Sunday, July 17th at 6 pm outdoors on the meadow at the South Coast Botanic Garden, 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard in the Palos Verdes Peninsula.  Featured vocalists will be guest professionals soprano Lisa Eden and tenor Ashley Faatoalia.  Acting music director Christine Hayes will conduct the program.

Praised by Placido Domingo, Ms. Eden has an impressive national and international career as a soloist.  She will perform I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables, and Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz, Henry Mancini’s Moon River, and Gershwin’s Someone to Watch over Me.  Theater and film performer Mr. Bakare will sing the pops classic More Than You Know, Gershwin’s Embraceable You, and Verdi’s La Donna e Mobile from the opera Rigoletto.  They will also sing together in a duet.

The program will also include selections by Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, and John Williams and famous marches from Broadway shows.

Tickets are only $10 each for adults, with free admission for children 12 years of age and under, and are available in the Botanic Garden courtyard just prior to concert time.  The band invites you to bring a blanket or comfortable chair for outdoor lawn seating and a picnic supper if you wish.
