The Band Presents: Music on the Meadow: Stories Through Music

Date and Time: Labor Day, Monday Sept. 2, 2019 from 3-5 PM

Venue: South Coast Botanic Garden (310-544-1948, www.southcoastbotanicgarden.org), 26300 Crenshaw Blvd. in the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Music has the power to evoke emotions, memories, and images. But how does it work? Find out with the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band as it unlocks the secrets of how music is constructed in a program entitled Stories Through Music. This family-friendly event will explore the elements of music and how they are developed to tell a tale with sound. Guest artist Beth Mitchell will perform Tubby the Tuba with the band, with television actor Robert David Hall as narrator. AMUSE Music Center’s instrument petting zoo will be on site to captivate children from 2:30-3:00 and again during intermission.

Tickets are free with Garden admission, in advance at www.southcoastbotanicgarden.org, or at the door. The band invites you to bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or beach chair for outdoor seating. No outside alcohol is allowed, but beer and wine will be for sale. Food will also be available for purchase.

For further information, you may call the Garden at 310-544-1948, the band at 310-792-8286 or 310-373-2442, or visit www.pvsband.org.
