The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band will present its annual Mother’s Day Concert, Take Mom to the Movies, on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 5-7 PM indoors in the Frances Young Hall at the South Coast Botanic Garden, 26300 Crenshaw Blvd., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90274 (310-544-6815).

The program will consist of music from movies that will appeal to moms (and dads) of all ages. Featured will be Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan, the theme from Out of Africa, and selections from The Wizard of Oz and the James Bond and Star Wars movies. Rena Urso, who teaches at CSULB, will be featured on flute.

Tickets are only $10 each for adults, with free admission for children 12 years of age and under, and are available in the Botanic Garden courtyard just prior to concert time.


The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band, under the direction of Christine Hayes, consists of 60 local musicians dedicated since 1962 to bringing the best in concert band music to the South Bay community.
